ABOUT US
The San Antonio Rose Society is a non-profit organization formed in 1961 and received its charter from the American Rose Society in 1962. Over the last sixty plus years our main objective has been to promote all aspects of rose culture to the public through a variety of educational programs, publications and rose-related community projects, such as rose shows, middle school art contests, contributing roses to school gardens and rosarian speakerships and workshops.
Our meetings, held on the second Monday of each month, provide speakers from our society and the plant growing industry on the newest products and latest discoveries regarding rose care and the varieties available. Information on soils, sprays, fertilizers and pruning practices is also readily available.
Our association with the American Rose Society provides support in these areas particularly with Consulting Rosarians who keep up to date with ongoing seminars. They are always available for help to the public.
Our Spring and Fall rose shows each year give our members the opportunity to share their appreciation of roses with the community through lively competitions for producing the best rose in each of several major categories.
