The San Antonio Rose Society of San Antonio, Texas, is a non-profit educational organization affiliated with the American Rose Society.
The rose is considered to be the queen of all flowers, and is our official national floral emblem. The objective of the society is to promote interest in all aspects of rose culture through a variety of educational programs and publications, rose shows, and rose-related community projects.
Membership is open to everyone who supports the objectives of the society. Annual membership to our rose society is $12 per family, which includes our monthly bulletin, "San Antonio Rose" and the SARS booklet, "How To Grow Roses". If you desire additional membership information or an application, please call one of the Consulting Rosarians or go to Membership for an application.
Because we value our members above all else, we are cancelling our June meeting in the wake of the COVID–19 situation. We will make decisions later about the July Ice Cream Social and the August meeting.
We hope everyone is still okay and not going too stir crazy. If we all act as if we have the virus, maybe we can keep our family and friends safe. I know we all want this to be over, but it isn’t over yet. For now, we can pray for the vaccine makers and try to keep our sanity.
Something to do while you stay home–-look through our new web site and updated Facebook page. Jamie and Wes Elliott have done a fantastic job of re-building them. There are many, many articles and videos on caring for roses, building rose beds, growing roses in containers, spraying, fertilizing, storing roses, exhibiting, and even how to hybridize new roses.
During this time, the essential business of your Rose Society is being conducted by telephone and emails. We still need someone to be the President, Vice President-Programs, and Ways & Means Chair. This is your society and will only continue to exist if more of our members step up to do these jobs. If you are interested, please call either me at 210-313-3371 or Meg Ware at 210-393-5634.
Hope to see you soon...
